Day 10

[It's awfully warm today. There are cool drinks in bowls of ice, and shady umbrellas anywhere that there's likely to be a lot of sun. It's a little cooler inside, or in the caves and grottos near the ocean, but even the woodland paths are muggy and unpleasant. Swimming might be the thing to do, today.]

[The poll board has switched over to proclaim:]

HANA & RUSSI ARE: NOT A MATCH

Nicon pipes up to say: "Just a reminder to everyone, we're pretty much halfway through! Day 20 will be the last day, if you don't get everyone matched before then. I think you're starting to narrow things down, but . . ."

[ the poll ]

[Your goal today is to pair off with someone you think might be your own soulbonded. Remember, this needs to be consensual, and it must be pairs.]

[Functionally, the poll below has only members of the white team. Black team members are responsible for placing a vote on their partner only when you and your partner have mutually decided. You can do so AT ANY TIME—if you come to an agreement with a partner early on in the day, please do toss up a vote so it's clear to everyone that you're thinking about it! You can switch things around later, or move your vote to "I'm thinking about it…" if you're reconsidering. You can also handwave the discussion and pair up OOCly; the key part is that we don't end up with two people on one person, anyone without a pair, or an OOC misunderstanding that would make it a one-sided agreement.]

I'm pretty sure that's for splashes, not constant deep sea diving.

I don't have one of those, but they sell phone cases like that too. Does he have a phone?

I have no idea. I was just offering examples.

Should we talk about something else?
bowtiedbones: (66)

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2017-07-07 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
You can go back to your work, if you want. I didn't really mean to interrupt anyways.

It's fine, honestly. I don't mind just talking.

What did you come here for?

[personal profile] contrapostasy 2017-07-07 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Bored? With all the excitement this game brings?
bowtiedbones: (47)

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2017-07-07 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
It's not like fun-bored, I could go find fun easy, but it's been a week of doing nothing productive!

[personal profile] contrapostasy 2017-07-07 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
I understand that. Have you ever tutored before?
bowtiedbones: (44)

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2017-07-07 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Like for kids or like for magic? I'm not at the level to tutor new necromancers.
contrapostasy: (40)

[personal profile] contrapostasy 2017-07-07 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
For kids. More or less. You can help me with improving Kasey and Gale's literacy.

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2017-07-07 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! I haven't, but my dad teaches 6th grade. I help him grade homework sometimes.

[personal profile] contrapostasy 2017-07-07 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
That's more than enough experience for this, honestly.
bowtiedbones: (54)

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2017-07-07 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
What are you doing? Giving them reading homework?
contrapostasy: (71)

[personal profile] contrapostasy 2017-07-07 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly, with vocab lists drawn from the books to learn and use.
bowtiedbones: (43)

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2017-07-07 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. So just reading and vocab, not reading comprehension?
contrapostasy: (04)

[personal profile] contrapostasy 2017-07-07 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
If they ask, it's fine to explain - but for the level they seem to be at, it'd be best to save that for later on.
bowtiedbones: (37)

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2017-07-07 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
What level are we working on? I haven't talked to either about their educations.
contrapostasy: (31)

[personal profile] contrapostasy 2017-07-07 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Gale may need help with the alphabet and recognizing basic words. Kasey seems slightly higher level, as he can read to younger kids, but still would struggle without pictures.
bowtiedbones: (3)

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2017-07-07 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
So Gale needs the basics and Kasey needs practice.
bowtiedbones: (43)

[personal profile] bowtiedbones 2017-07-07 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, let me see what you have so far... What grade do you normally teach?
contrapostasy: (44)

[personal profile] contrapostasy 2017-07-08 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
A range, but usually I end up teaching high schoolers that enrolled in cram school for scholarships.
