[It's awfully warm today. There are cool drinks in bowls of ice, and shady umbrellas anywhere that there's likely to be a lot of sun. It's a little cooler inside, or in the caves and grottos near the ocean, but even the woodland paths are muggy and unpleasant. Swimming might be the thing to do, today.]

I can't fault you for that. He didn't say much, probably to respect your privacy. Then, you would prefer I don't stay close to him?

I didn't want him feeding you regularly, that's all. And to be fair, you should have some rotation on the people doing that, they'll get sick otherwise.

Ah. I was in that position for a very long time when I was a human, and after what happened, I never planned on asking anyone to do that for me. It might change now because I have a less dangerous option, but . . . I never planned to do that.

The way I understood it was that he'd volunteered to be more or less a permanent food source.

I don't know if he wanted it to be permanent but he said he could do it again after a few days, as for myself, I only considered it as my last option. I was afraid of telling the rest about myself but I knew that was the only way to go about it and he encouraged that.

He's not wrong. Plus, your soulmate could be someone either long-living or who'll come back, right?

Ah, maybe? But I'm making decisions without taking that into account either way.
